Living in Yorkville

Yorkville is the Upper East Side neighborhood closest to the water, with a river park, long-established shops and a quieter, more local feel.

Parks and the river

Carl Schurz Park is the neighborhood's anchor, with river views, playgrounds, a dog run and Gracie Mansion, the mayor's official residence, inside it. The East River Esplanade runs alongside for walking and cycling. Asphalt Green, at 90th Street and York Avenue, is a large community sports center. Central Park is a longer walk from most of Yorkville.

Daily errands

Groceries, cafés and services line Second Avenue and the 86th Street corridor. Much of everyday life happens within a few blocks, which suits buyers who prefer a neighborhood rhythm to a destination one.

Schools

Private schools in or near Yorkville include the Brearley School and the Chapin School. Public school zoning follows your exact address, so confirm assignments with the NYC Department of Education before you buy.

Healthcare

Major hospitals are to the south along York Avenue in Lenox Hill, and to the north near Fifth Avenue and 100th Street.
